Engine Flush
After the catastrophic failure of my oil cooler and loss of almost all the oil on the highway, the engine has not been herself. I have performed a couple flushes with MMO and diesel and found no discernable difference in performance nor have I found anything in waste after the flush. This time I decided to try a flush one last time. On a whim I picked up a couple bottles of a degreaser from the dollar store called "Totally awesome" Against all my instincts, I drained and plugged the pan then added the cleaner and a couple of quarts of a 5$ dino oil for some lubrication. I then ran the engine and let it soak for 30 mins. On draining the pan, I noticed a ridiculous amount of gooey snot like grey and black oil boogers coming out. I removed the filter and it was clogged up with goop. Then cleaned the filter and added some more cheap dino oil and ran again and drained again. Wow. I can't tell you how much garbage came out but it was amazing. I topped up with good oil and new filter and now it idles perfectly smoothly and acceleration and power is smoother than it has been in years.
Anyway, do what you want with the info but please refrain from the "I would never" and "Hope you have lots of money for a new engine" and "These stupid backyard mechanics" comments.

When you run the engine without oil, you scored some parts in it and no flush is going to fix that.
Do simulated smoothest test to start with and probably real compression test is in order.
Also if you read the post you would know that I added oil for some lubrication then flushed with oil.
I just told a story of something I did to my vehicle that worked for me. I am so sick of the "your an idiot" forum posters No matter what you say, there will be somebody telling you and world how bad a job you did.
