OM648 turn over by hand
I bought a endoscope to look down inside the cylinders before I reseal the injectors.
How do I turn over the engine by hand so I can lower the #3 piston which at the very top of the stroke, and then which way do turn if I am facing the engine?
thanks

Looking from front, the engine turns CW ,but confirm you are turning in normal direction as reverse can damage this engine.
This is for OM648.
For anyone who cares, in order to get the fan out:
Remove nine bolts holding the center crossmember on top. Pull the gasket from the crossmember. Remove the upper spring clips from either side of the radiator. There are two plastic rivets the hold the metal crossmember to the plastic intake cowling that sits directly on top of the radiator, pry the pins out to remove them.
Disconnect the fan electrical connector from left side by squeezing the two locking tabs together. Also a plastic hose clamp that needs to be opened next to the electrical connector.
Remove the accordion air inlet to expose the upper large water hose on right side, (your left facing the engine) remove the wire clip holding the hose to the radiator, probably need to wet it with WD40, wiggle the hose free from the radiator, you will lose about a gallon of coolant, so get a catch bucket under there.
From underneath, pull the 1” dia metal tubing that runs across the fan housing from its mounts. Shim away with two popsicle sticks on either side of where the spring clips were, the plastic tabs for clearance and pull up on the fan housing, once its up a few inches, move the fan housing to the right side to clear the lower housing protrusions. That is why you have to remove only the one radiator hose.
