Any reason to steer clear of a 2007 E 320?

Any reason to steer clear of a 2007 E 320?
I'm shopping for a used car and found a great looking 2007 E 320 BlueTec. At first I was excited that this is a diesel because I'm hoping that means more longevity, and I love diesel vehicles (I own 2 trucks). But the more I read, I found posts stating that this diesel is not of the same caliber as older generations. Other common problems included the valves and transmission. Not sure if these were just isolated incidents that topped the list of my google search, or systemic problems prevalent with this car. Would I be better off with a same vintage gasser? I love the MBs, but don't know much about the lineage, ie the good years and models vs those to avoid. I don't have a lot of mechanical experience, but I'm trying to change that. I do basic maintenance on our family vehicles (fluids, brakes, sensors and the like--nothing sophisticated). So, I'd also be curious if these cars are kind to driveway mechanics like me, or would I be taking this to a shop for all work? I'd appreciate any advice you could share with someone in the used car market. Thank you!

The OM642 engine has weak oil cooler and at higher mileage intake manifold gunk will stop the flaps from moving.
Good performer otherwise and 2007 in USA comes with no DEF, so less things to repair.

1st your RPMs need to be low (under 1500)
then 2nd you need to floor it and force a downshift. If I’m in town going 35 mph it’s not hard to do and my 06 CDI has 64,000 miles on it.
