Question Thermostat replacement leaking E300 OM606

Yesterday I fully flushed my 1999 E300 OM606 and was hoping to replace my thermostat in the process with 6022000015 thermostat and 6032030474 thermostat housing after filling with fluid housing began leaking profusely. Is there something I need to know about installing the O-ring seal beforehand? I even took it apart and used a different O-ring after and still same issue. Thanks

If yours is the same as the one on my '97, the thermostat only fits in one position or it will not seal properly. It has been awhile but as I remember it you have to twist the thermostat around in the housing until it drops in place. Remove the bleed bolt just behind the radiator hose when you fill with coolant until coolant shows up in the hole.
