2008 E320 Not Regenerating?
2008 E320 Bluetec. Had DPF professionally cleaned at 178K miles.
700 miles later started getting sluggish at highway speeds, that's all I was driving. Finally got a P242F code for DPF Ash Accumulation.
Used iCarSoft MBII to attempt a forced regeneration but it does not recognize my Vin. Reads it but when I say OK to "Correct Vin?" It just goes back to the previous page, "Passenger car or Van" page and asks all over again. I tried manually entering the vin and it does the same thing.
I put in a tech support ticket to iCarSoft but no reply yet.
Odd thing is if I reset the P242F code it runs great for a while then gets sluggish again. Did that several times but that's not a good solution.
Anyone have any ideas about possibly not regenerating? There is no way to tell if it's regenerating.
Car gets to good running temp according to the dash gauge anyway, I run it for 45 min at 70 to 80.
One other note, I have a Green Diesel Engineering tune so the EGR is pulled shut since 145K miles. Ran great and stronger with the tune.

I was using iCarsoft MBII for forced regeneration and it lied to me.
The procedure on my 2014 model require driving slow with high rpm, what was difficult as manual gear shifting was coming back to auto after about 1 minute.
The DPF counter on the scanner would go down to 0, only after restarting everything I was back to previous DPF load.
Good scanner like AP200 should show you all criteria DPF need to work for regeneration.
When I did not try that procedure, dealing with failed HP fuel pump opened me nice troubleshooting page with all live data needed for troubleshooting and those not meeting the values were displayed in red.

It requires annual subscription and WI-FI connections for updates, but works without updates as well.
In attempting to initialize a Regenerate I am unclear weather it is regenerating. At the first screen it said "Regeneration is initialized" but a line said "Cat. converter is heating up" and I don't know id the process is continuing.
After driving for about 20 min. a few times, I never received an indication that it was working.
I can monitor the heat of the DPF and it ranges from 425 degrees to 500 degrees
The cat. ranges between 450 to 520 degrees. Unless I push it to 85 MPH where the cay gets as high as 598. But the DPF barley gets above 500. So I don't think it is regenerating.
After another scan it tells me the ash content is 0 percent and the soot is at 78 percent. But still says the DPF pressure is at the upper limit. and the "Filter id at 300 percent".
Although it seem to be running good and I don't get the check engine light or codes.

So for long time using DPF temp gauge was the most reliable to observe.
DPF on my Sprinter regenerate well above 500F. Most of the time it is 580
