Technically yes, the adblue system. The fuel mileage doesn't offer any net benefit when you calculate the higher cost of diesel, and the additional maintainence and repairs over what a gas engine requires. But that's been discussed here before. There weren't enough 4 cylinder diesels sold here in the U.S. to get a feel for their reliability outside the adblue system.

There is huge number of Sprinters with OM651 engine in USA.
Some of them passed 1/2 million miles
MB USA also offers OM654 engines in new Sprinters.
I can only wonder when they will bring E class with them?
Still drooling about new E class wagon with diesel, but I don't hold my breath.

Thankfully I don't work on Sprinters so I see very few of those engines except for the occasional E250 or ML250, mostly adblue or dpf/nox problems. I think MB is really done with diesel passenger cars in the U.S. as they are focused on electric cars, and trying to claw their way past Tesla as the most desired electric brand. They've got an uphill battle that's for sure. Not only are they way late to the party, but ask any young kid what car they want.... it's a Tesla not a Mercedes. Elon certainly has done a great job in the marketing department.

Tesla is for grandparents.
Younger people want Lucid.

So ya dont have much experience so ya dont know I guess ya could say. They have been running in other countries, doing fine from the sounds of it. Unfortunately here in the states vw and cali have screwed the diesel crowd.

Shame too because if we could have gotten a diesel hybrid instead of the prius crap we could have been enjoying 100mpg plus for the last 15 years

2013 GL350 with a little over 198k miles & 56k past AEM. Burns no oil between 5k changes and runs like a top. Not such a garbage engine as far as I’m concerned. Gets 30-31 mpg @ 65mph & 25’ish @ 80nph. Average miles between regens is ~470 on the road.

PS - I do run a diesel oil in it, delvac ESP 5-40.
