Additives-Recommendations from the Experts

My GL 350 is close to 97 K and would like to get opinions on routine/occasional need for Oil and or Fuel additives. A good general talking discussion with specifics would be helpful.
Thanks…

NOTHING.
For weather below 0F, you need to add anti-gelling stuff.

There's really nothing you need outside of the normal maintenance fluids: fuel, oil, etc. One thing that might come up is if you buy fuel in Florida in January then ship the car to Montana. An anti-gel additive could be required. Local fuel should already be treated for the expected conditions, and should be fine as long as you don't encounter anything outside of what is expected.

I've used Power Service in the grey bottle for decades on all my diesels. The '96 Chevy had over 200k when I sold it. The '03 Durmax had about 150K on it when it got wrecked. My '05 Chevy Duramax has well over 300K on it, original injectors/HPFP. The ONLY time I've had an issue with the fuel was during the two tanks in the dead of winter that I DIDN'T add the PS. Temps were in the -20F and the fuel gelled. Supposedly the fuel is mixed for our climate, but clearly adding the PS makes a difference.
I've also used it in my '05 E320CDI and now in my ML350 Bluetec. Given the utter lack of lubricity that today's diesel has (Ultra Low Sulphur), adding some lubricity to the fuel can only help everything (expensive) that the fuel touches from the tank pump, HPFP, injectors, filters, etc...
A couple of extra dollars per load of fuel is cheap insurance. I have yet to be shown I'm wrong in adding it but have clearly been witness to the benefits.

None. Only times an additive should be used are a specific type to treat a specific problem. Gelling and fungus infections for example. Recreational use is 100% waste of money.

That said, the only oil additive with consistently tangible independently verifiable results is Restore Engine Restorer.
