What country is it?
I know MB like to play with the same engine endlessly, so don't expect easy answer.
MB USA offers rebuild engines in price range of $10,000, what IMHO is the best deal.
Few years ago I bought replacement engine for 2007 E320 Bluetec from UK.
Even it was the same engine block, turned out my original engine had water-cooled EGR, when UK version did not have such cooling.
I was able to add cooling Tees to my original EGR and make it working, but possibilities are endless.
Good luck

My understanding is that if all 6 numbers (651.nnn) are the same then worst case is you'll have to swap something that's bolted on, like maybe the alternator bracket.

Do you know whats causing it by chance (head gasket, injectors....). Just curious. Also if it is one of these things have you thought about replacing or redoing said issue or is the engine toast?

Since the engine is 15 yo, there is pretty much information about it on the net. Just do some search.

oil temp got to high lost oil pressure up a hill whit a trailer on the back. stopped and let the oil cooldown but i had to get home so drove fore 6 hours and on the last big hill before i got home i blow a coolant line car ran fine when i stopped it. replaced the line and tried to start it up a few days later and all the compression went straight out in the coolant system. and now the engine is completely sized drained the oil before removing the engine from the car and it had a lot of bearing material and prizes of metal is the oil cooler smaler fore w212 whiteout trailerhook from the factory?

Ouch, good luck on finding a new engine. Atleast you have more than a couple years of that engine over there so chances of finding a replacement is probably easier.
