OM651 C200 CDI oil leak around the air intake.

Hello everyone,

I've been checking the engine coolant level for a while since it reduced abnormally recently and if it's reduced I add it up to keep the normal level. Then I realized that there were oil leak signs under the air intake area (passenger side of the engine) as well. These are what I saw at first glance.

When I checked the engine oil level it was at the minimum level so I assumed that the leak could be 1-2 litre approximately. I removed the air intake parts to see it clearly and came across the following.

The most obvious traces appear exactly at the attachment points (in the picture above), but I cannot be completely sure. I suspected an oil separator hose, but everything seemed normal there was no sign of a torn or a deformation.

Do you have any idea as to why this might be happening? I'm still investigating the part that I've removed. There may be a leak in the marked area where the oil separator hose is connected. Thank you in advance.

It doesn't look like active leak, but long term seepage.
Since you already cleaned it, stuff paper towels in this area to pinpoint the leak.

Thank you, I'm going to observe it but have some doubts about it since I made an oil service 2k miles before so I think it's a very short time.

So just guessing here but assume that this is oil leaking out of the intake at the various unions on that part of the system correct? If so there are only so many entrances of oil to the intake side so not knowing this portion of my vehicle yet I would look at those parts. For example turbo seals, PCV system, not sure what else could feed oil to the intake parts except EGR but I havnt looked at how that is plumbed on these engines. On my truck its a crossover tube and valve assembly so it ties in right in front of the engine intake side.

According to your suspicions, my guess is growing that the PCV is not working properly. I'll be trying to replace it the next week by myself but before proceeding with it. It would be nice to know how the oil-separator hose evacuates the amount of the oil while the engine is idling. I don't have a reference point so that I can understand whether there is more oil was evacuated than it should be or whether the problem originated from there. Other than that, if the problem is caused by the turbo seals that might exceed what I can do. Thanks for the tips. I'm going to update the topic as long as I find a clue.
