Question 2008 Mercedes A180 CDI

New guy here. We bought a used car and thought we had a good deal. However, it is becoming apparent that we did not.

The car is a 2008 Mercedes A180 CDI

After driving 10 minutes or so have a warning of ¨Engine Oil Level Reduce Oil Level¨ is displayed. It stay on until the engine is turned off and off for 5 minutes. Then after driving 10 minutes again, it returns.

We took the car to the Mercedes dealership/mechanic and they believe the DPF isn´t being cleaned (for whatever reason) and that fuel passes through the cylinders to the oil pan and mixes with the oil which raises the oil level and deteriorates the oil as well.

They have also admitted that it could just be the sensor (in the oil pan?).

I am looking for a second opinion/get educated. Thank you.

Fuel in the oil wouldn't "fix" itself after sitting for 5 minutes.

Is this one of those engines without a dip stick? Sort of makes it hard to figure out what is really going on.

Do an oil change. Measure how much comes out. Is it too much, not enough, just right? Maybe use a flush solvent to dissolve any sludge. Fill the engine with the correct volume of oil. Is it fixed? Next step would be the sensor.

No, it has one. I checked the oil level today and it is on the word MAX. To me that means that it has the maximum amount of oil. So apparently it did have too much oil based off that and that the Mercedes mechanic took out one liter of oil. You would think you could trust (for the most part) the Mercedes dealership mechanics. Thank you all.

Maybe when they extracted the old oil they didn't get it all out. Regardless, they should have checked the level before they released the car to you. I had that happen to me recently. I extracted the oil, added the correct amount, and was half a quart over. I never add the whole amount before checking, so there was probably a quart of old oil left.

The oil level should not be above the last line near the "Max" marking. Keep an eye on it and if it doesn't make any radical changes, and the light stays off, I guess you can close the books on this one.

Maybe. Ah. OK. Thank you. Will do. Hopefully. I think I am going to take it to a different mechanic for an oil change to start afresh. Plus I don´t know when the last actual oil change was. Thank you again!
