10' E550: Do side mirrors fold/bend down in reverse?

Does anyone know if the the side mirrors fold/bend down when the vehicle is placed in reverse? This usually helps to avoid the curb lining when backing the vehicle in reverse. I could honestly promise, I saw this action activate when I first checked out the car the day I decided to purchase it. Our 09' Maserati Gran Turismo also has this functionality, which works out quite well when parking 'frontend' out.

I have done some research on this forum pertaining to tilting mirrors on other 07', 08's, etc. This could also be another feature that was disabled before the vehicle was handed over. Has anyone had any luck enabling this feature for 2010, 2011 model, if this exists?

I have the e350 coupe and after set up in accordance to the manual my passenger side mirror will tilt down when I place the vehicle in reverse so I can see the curb.

I say after set up because until I did this, the mirrors did absolutely nothing when placing the car into reverse.

Where can I find this enabling procedure in the manual? I work in FL and will only have the ability to possibly perform this when I return home this weekend. It is good to hear that the individual consumer can perform this from home, rather than take a trip to the dealer.

I do not have my manual with me but if I remember correctly the procedure is as follows

1. put car in run position but without putting your foot on the brake to start car, make sure safety brake is on.

2. switch mirror selector to right side mirror

3. place vehicle in reverse

4. adjust mirror to suit for reverse action usually downward angle

5. put vehicle into park

6. adjust mirror for normal driving position

7. turn off ignition

8. restart vehicle with engine running

9. place in reverse and mirror should look downwards, make sure the mirror selector is on right side, it should remember the last setting.

10. when putting mirror back into drive there is a delay in mirror returning to upwards or normal position, this is normal

hopefully I remembered everything correctly.

this procedure will only work if you have the memory seat package
