went with eibachs. had a slight issue that the installer was able to resolve. the drop is perfect IMHO. thinking about tinting the molding all around. it will be dark a la black chrome. these rims dont come in matte black. powder coating allowed for some creativity. plus i got a smoking deal on them. the guy is also selling another set with a mirror face and gunmetal windows on ebay if you are interested.

I have also changed the grill to a SLS style and changed to clear front side marker lights.
I’ve been toying with the idea of powder coating these in a gunmetal grey but I’m on the fence. The more I look at them the more I like them the way they are. Mercedes makes this wheel in black with a machined lip but I don’t think they look nearly as good as these do. I don’t think they would fit on a E-class though.
So what's the deal with powder coating vs paint? I recall, back when that was popular, everything powder coated would fade very quickly in the sun and one way or another they'd get moisture or oil under it and it corrode the metal and separate from it. It was like the opposite of protection. And of course the only repair was to completely remove it, sand blast all the damage and start over. It was always a disaster so I never understood why people did it. Painting is way easier, can even do it yourself at home like I do. The water/oil will not get under it, if you don't want it to, and, super important; it's repairable!. So these days with the latest tech in powder, is there any advantage over paint? And if there is a good reason for using it, can you get clear power coat? Like if you wanted to protect alum or machined alum spots is that possible or is paint still the only option?
