Rear window heating element

On your cars, does the rear window have lines on it where the element has defogged the glass? Mine does not and I'm wondering whether there is something wrong. The glass eventually clears but it takes a long time.

you mean if we can SEE the heating element in the glass (ie the metal stripes) ?

yes very clearly. And when you switch it on, it defoggs very fast...

the window will clear as well when not switched on, but that's just because of the wind, and it takes longer.

they way you describe it, it seems they forgot to install the heating,
which seems very weird & even impossible...

Let me clarify - the heating element is in the glass. In other cars, assuming the window is fogged up, you see clear lines appear around the element when it is working.
Further testing last night seems to indicate that mine is not working. There is a 40A fuse in the trunk but it is kind of hard to get to due to the trunk liner. I need to go to the dealer anyway to get them to look at my ridiculously squeaky windows so they can take care of the defogger at the same time!

The dealer said that they tested it and it worked. When I asked how they test, I was told they blow on the glass and if they see steam, it works. I'll try that because I don't believe them...
