RennTech Warranty?
Can someone provide some clarity on the RennTech tune? I am looking at getting it but want to ensure my warranty is not voided.
The website has this document:
http://www.renntechmercedes.com/www/...s_warranty.pdf
Really I'm after 2 questions:
1) If my entire powertrain blows up, am I going to be up a creek?
2) Will a mercedes dealer give me crap if I bring it in for a service and it has the RennTech tune on?

1. Yes if you blow the motor, break the transmission etc. No OEM anywhere warranties repairs caused by modifications to their software. For extensive repairs you will be in a pizzing contest with MB about what the cause was. You will have modified the software and it is unrealistic to expect MB to stand behind the results of such modifications.
2. Only if they catch it. For oil changes and such they probably don't bother to check the current software resident in your car. It is really easy to see if the software/firmware has been changed from the factory install if they choose to look.
From reading the Renntech warranty I can't tell what they are standing behind in this instance. All they are doing is changing the software. Bits don't break. The results of bit modification may break other things but they are not warrantying those results if they happen.
