Bluetec question
Hey guys, a friend of mine just bought a new 2012 E550 ( or E500, a V-8 anyway) convertible. However, on the front fender is a Bluetec badge. I know it's not a diesel. Anyone have any thoughts on this apparent contradiction?

As far s I know all 2012 E class gas engines have these badges. It has nothing to do with having a diesel engine but rather with emissions questions.
Originally this nomenclature was used for a MB clean diesel technology but now is obviously applies to the entire E class engine lineup since they went to direct injection motors.

BlueTec refers to the additive (AddBlue) used in the new diesels to clean diesel exhaust.
