Tire sizing question...

Hi,

I was looking to get a set of winter tires (blizzaks LM60) with sizes of 225/40/18 and 255/40/18 for front and rear, respectively, but was wondering if that might be too much of a size difference from OEM and/or too staggered that it would hinder drive ability. These would be going on OEM rims on an a 2011 E550.

Thanks in advance!

edit:
specifically, with a larger difference for front vs rear, I was wondering if there might be issues (drive ability, suspension, etc.)

For winters, on the stock 18" rims, I went with 225/40/18 on all 4s. Others went with 235/40/18 on all 4s without any issues.

Where are you located? If your winters are soft then stagger with stock setup size. If not, and you actually "need" good snow traction, I recommend the narrow profile (225 or 235).

I was worried about the front vs rear difference. There's about a 4% difference in diameter b/w the 225 and the 255 (the rear being larger). The stock tires have a less than 2% difference (with the front actually larger in diameter). From what I gather, having larger rear tires will promote under-steer, but I was wondering if there would actually be any damage to any sensors or the any part of the car because of this discrepancy.

Thanks
