Staggered Diameter Wheels

So I've been going back and forth trying to figure out what to do for wheels. I like the look of 20's but don't want to give up the everyday usability of 19's.

What do you guys think of staggered diameter wheels? If I were to go 19x8.5 up front and 20x10 in the rear I could safely get the proper load rating for the front tires (35 sidewalls) and I could get the contact patch I need in the rear (10 inch)

Terrible idea?

What did you end up going with? I am also looking for aftermarket 19" wheels for my E550 Coupe. I found out Vossen and Rohana in 19" will not work without a spacer for the fronts due to the bigger brakes in the E550 Coupe (2012). I am looking for a 19" set without having to use spacers and with flush fitment.

Since the E550 Coupe has fairly symmetric fenders / wells front and back the staggered diameter will likely not look great. Vehicles that normally come with staggered diameter wheels will usually have a bigger rear fender / well area.

I'd also suggest going with 19" wheels as best balance of looks/performance/comfort for the E550 coupe. I just ordered 19" Vertini RF1.1 (Rotary Forged):
Front 19x8.5 +40 w/ 255/35/19 Conti DWS 06
Rear 19x9.5 +45 w/ 285/30/19 Conti DWS 06

Going a bit wider / bit taller sidewall to take up some of the gap and also add to comfort (I like the look of a bit more sidewall). Typical recommendation for 19" on E550 Coupe are 245/35/19 F & 275/30/19 R.

I'm on stock sport suspension but may lower later. Will post pics after getting wheels/tires.

ive seen people do 1 size smaller wheels in the front, youre right, thats a terrible idea. go with same size all round but staggered.

Nice tire size recommendation on several points that should provide the look, driving comfort /performance and overall stance. on a side note, just bought Vertini RF1.1 19x8.5,9.5 Titanium brush. Very good looking wheel in person, and rotary forged.
