As you may know, I just ordered a 2015 E550 Coupe Black on Black in Toronto last week.
I have not seen a 2015 E550C in the flesh, at the dealership or otherwise. Have seen plenty of sedans.
Looking at images, I'm baffled by the grille star on the 2015 E550C - I have seen many images on MB corporate and dealer websites both (US and Canada) , brochures and online reports and reviews.
The style of grille star seems to be either a solid filled in medallion or (as I will call it) a vented star. I have seen both versions in the same printed brochure. Odd.
As a personal choice I prefer the vented star in favor of the solid medallion like star. To me it has more design and depth - the solid plastic one seems quite plain to me.
Have attached pix of the versions to explain my definitions.
Question for 2015 E550C owners or owners to be - what version of grill star do you have?
Assuming it is the same design as my 2014 Cabriolet, the filled in star is the actual radar for Distronic features, if you have that option. If you don't have the driver assistance package (Distronic Plus, Active Blind and Lane Keeping, presafe break etc.) it will be the opened star.
OK thanks - the Distronic radar - I never thought of that - you cleared that up completely for me. That explains for me the variety of grille images I was viewing online.
I searched Distronic image and this came off a MB USA - it was buried and I didn't see it till I searched.
