What made you go with the flex pipe? Those look like small cats on the headers.

Where you get the copper bolts?

Added the Flex tubes due to my experience with other new exhaust systems...I don't want to crack the headers...Don't expect them to, but it is added insurance...I don't like to go back and do things over so I tend to over do everything up front...Just the way I am. Adding the flex tubes now is a lot cheaper than dealing with a cracked header later...And the down time...

The bolts normally come from Kleeman. So if you order from Cory, just ask him to be sure they are included.

Those were high grade from Ace Hardware...They have a huge assortment of bolts.

Hello All that are following or interested in this thread,

I wanted to update you on my progress with my e550 project...As I drove the car, I noticed what sounded like an exhaust leak. It just did not sound good. So it took a few weeks to get this resolved. I finally was able to get my car back to FS Tuning last Friday.

They found everything tight and buttoned up. No leaks anywhere, headers intact. So, the sound was actually the resonators that I did not have removed initially because I was fearful of the car being too loud. Since they were the culprit, FS Tuning convinced me to try removing them and we discussed tuning the exhaust to a sweeter note as well as maybe even a slightly bigger gain... So FS Tuning welded in an X-Pipe. Car sounds like a tuned AMG!! It's a great enhancement! Excellent throttle response, excellent acceleration, I love the fun! Just burning a lot of gas because I'm always on it right now.

Car sounds a bit more muscular and throaty when driving normally, but getting on it, it rasps like a Weistec tuned e63!!

I will now look for a good day to tune it on the dyno...Can't wait for the results!!

See and ear the video below:

disappointing. it sounds raspy like a 6 cylinder? Maybe its just the phone mic not picking up the bass tones of the new exhaust

I can guarantee you it does not sound like a six cylinder. No way, no how. It sounds like a tuned AMG, and ice heard many of them. No offense, just confirming. I'll get a better video up soon.

You should try and pick up some c63 mufflers... I have them on with an x-pipe and the sound is really good, no drone at all. With the headers it will be incredible!

BTW, will be posting some more videos today. Doing the final Dyno runs now that the cats have been replaced. I'll post up a dyno when on Stage 1 tune and from today with Stage 2 tune ad the plumbing changes.

That's less than expected. Is that the dyno type that rates low usually?

Hmm, that's odd...this could be why Kleeman never posted any dyno's of the headers after production.

Won't be adding to this thread...

Hey all,

i just wanted to update you. I won't be adding to this thread as I was in an accident and my baby was totaled. The good news is I'm ok, the bad news is my car is done.

The lemon did turn into lemonade...I found a cherry 2013 black/black E550 Coupe with 13k miles, garage kept. Bought it. Now, I'm on the path to upgrade the m278!!
