Bought 2012 e350 cab from Merc dealer Saturday, issues...
When we got home we found that we had to cycle the roof several times before it would close the rear deck piece all the way, whether putting top up or down. And each time when it finally closed it was with a loud thump.
Sunday morning we came out to the car and the windshield washer fluid was leaking, right under the reservoir, until it was empty by Monday morning. I was out of town for work Monday but we took the car over Tuesday morning and are waiting to hear back, they have given us a nice loaner.
Car is an immaculate 1 owner with only 31k miles, trying to get the dealer to print off the service records, or at a minimum what they did when they took the lease return in to put on the lot.
I am a longtime former BMW guy, and we were always able to get access to any service records for a car done at any BMW dealership with the VIN. The Mercedes dealer was not quite sure they would be able to do that. Is that something they can pull, that would show any warranty or service work done at any Mercedes dealer?
These were items noticed by the dealer rep before we left with delivery of car, they told us they would take care of it, so hopefully its all getting fixed right now.
-needs new windshield washer reservoir
-motor for aircap needs replace
-motor for passenger seatbelt needs replace
-bracket/hinges in convertible motors in trunk need replace
Waiting for salesman to get approval from sales manager.
This car was sold to us Saturday and is only a few months out of factory warranty, crazy that all this stuff got by them before putting on their lot, makes me nervous.
i wouldnt worry too much though as after they replace all those parts you mentioned (for free i suppose) you'll be ok.
anything not engine, tranny, suspension related i consider "not so major" repairs.
We were specifically looking for a 2012/2013 e350 cab with amg sport and we paid a premium of about $3-4k over buying from a non-Mercedes dealer, was about 10% premium. We told them that the reason we were buying their's was because the assumption was since it was 1 owner and such low miles, just months out of factory warranty, that it was likely perfect. And it certainly looks perfect inside and out. The interior could pass for new, and they had just replaced the wood trim due to delamination issues the week we bought it.
All appearances are that the dealer will take care of everything, I'll report back with results, good or bad, but I'm sure they will make it all right.
