2017 E Class Coupe Revealed
The side profile is not as bad as the spy pics showed, however I simply hate the rear. Also it seems 100% likely that there will be an AMG version

Worse in every way than original E coupe (pre refresh)
- Bland marshmallow corporate face.
- same shape essentially just rounder, no evolution
- same corporate coupe rear
- much worse integration of that rear mini window. Original E had it way smaller. This one looks like a disaster.Like a freaking sliding house window.
- not a single original thought or design element. This car is a complete rehash of parts and current design elements. Design looks like it was probably generated by a computer.
The original E coupe was the object of my dreams for years and years, I still want one. This... I looked at it, and I don't mind if I don't see it again. It's a nice overall car by itself but unsuccessful successor in my book, and I actually think C-class coupe looks better with the current design language.

so tell me...how many cars have you designed so far?

Because 90% of the car is identical to C. The only different is that it is longer so it has slightly different shape/length behind B-pillar.
What does it matter. The car is not exciting at all. Just a predictable corporate design. Kind of like Audi. Clearly moving towards 'same sausage different length' approach.

refresh after refresh the same "I hate it" from previous gen owners and people still seem to defy this and buy the new model

~ change is a challenge for the majority of us. it will grow on most of us in time.
i kinda like it ... evolution perhaps.
as with most cars, the larger wheels in the photos posted make it more acceptable appearance wise.

A Lot of the Same Styling by Mercedes
While undeniably beautiful, in my opinion it suffers from a lack of differentiation that has become common among the new Mercedes cars, from the C-Class (including coupe and cabriolet), E-Class sedan and S Class coupe. All these cars seem to have a "sameness" about them that was not characteristic of the Mercedes line in the past. I used to be able to distinguish one Mercedes from another in an instant. Now, more than ever, I must look very carefully in order to identify the model.

at least you know it is a Mercedes ... as opposed to being unable to distinguish the new A/S5 from a Subaru/Kia/Ford Fusion when approaching from the front

Looks promising. Like a baby S-class coupe. I'd have to drive the AMG version though. A compressor driven inline 6 making 400hp sounds wonderful.

Maybe I'm biased, which I probably am as I just purchased an E550C, but I find the exterior on the current models to be more timeless - this includes prerefresh and refresh. I can see this model getting dated, quickly - and the reason is, it, like the new C Coupe, look fantastic in some angles and disproportional at others. They hit the nail on the head with the S Coupe and then seem to have had problems shrinking it for the C and E. Again, in some glances they are absolutely stunning. In others, they look like they will age very quickly. With that being said, the new E's interior is absolutely glorious and I'm very jealous.

German site has configurator up and running for new E Coupe. No Brilliant Blue ... looks like Lunar Blue still available (although referred to as Cavansite Metallic), and an Emerald Green color ... plus normal whites/greys/silvers/blacks and the carry-over cardinal red. Wonder what the E50 will offer ...
