How to wash the top cover?

I just washed my car last evening. Drove to work and put the top down today. For once I parked with the top down and when I got out I noticed that the cover for my top (the area behind the back seats) is very dusty. Since I usually put the top down to drive and up to park, I never really see that part. Doesn't look like it's all that dirty, but it's dusty as hell. Like an idiot I have been washing with the top up and never thought about having to clean that part of the car.

What's the best way to get a fairly thick layer of dust off that part without scratches? I'm worried that if I rub it off, even with a microfiber cloth, the dust will scratch the paint. I don't want to hose it down either because I don't see how I'll keep the water out of the interior.

Thanks

Bucket and microfiber wash mitt like you would the rest of the car. Just don't use the hose.

Agree. That and a microfiber and you're good to go.
