Rear shocks at 72K miles?

I had the car in for an unrelated issue as well as noise from the rear. i was told the rear shocks are "weak" by the dealer and need to be replaced. Warranty covers struts and strut inserts, but "shock absorbers" are not listed therefore not covered. Dynamic ride control shocks list for over 600 dollars each and I have found them online for a few dollars under $500.00. This seems like ridiculously low mileage for shock/strut replacement for a vehicle of this type. Anyone replaced shocks at this low mileage?

Do the old school check by rocking the rear several times to check the rebound. If it rebounds more than once when you let go then the shocks are gone. If not, you are still good. I just don't believe everything dealers says. Also get a second opinion.

Also, when I sold my G35X, the shocks were still good at 135K!
