2012 cabrio auxilliary battery info
The red battery symbol appeared on my dash this week warning me the auxiliary battery needed changing.
I searched the internet for information about this battery and struggled to find a single picture which was the same as what I have in my boot so I thought I'd document how this is on my 2012 E350 cab in case it helps someone in the future.
Forget anything about a battery behind the dash - there isn't one, there is however a couple of fuses for god knows what behind there.
The main battery is in the engine bay passenger side (U.K. Car) beneath the big plastic cover against the bulkhead. Pop the 3 metal clips at the bulkhead end and the cover lifts off to reveal a battery big enough to start a truck!
The auxilary battery is in the boot on the right next to the spare wheel, under the cover which wraps around the spare wheel.
There is also a fuse board there too, and again I haven't been able to find a picture of this either.
The battery has the following on a label on top
MB ref A 000 982 70 08 - Q2
12v 12ah 170A(EN)
approx dimensions
150mm wide x 86mm deep x 144mm high
I have only found one possible non-OEM battery. The Lucas LYTX14BS but read something quite scary about this damaging a vehicle.
Mine is on the bench now on a conditioner charger but flipped to Maintain mode as soon as I put it on, but I'll contact my local battery guy tomorrow to see what he recommends and post my findings here

A quick update:
Having had the battery on the bench overnight I refitted it this morning and my HOLD function is now working normally.
I contacted a local battery place who took my car registration and quoted me £280
I've contacted Lucas about their LYTX14BS but haven't heard anything from them yet.
I also contacted a company called TANYA Batteries for their recommendation and after giving them all the information from the label on the battery, and its physical dimensions I got the following reply very quickly from them today.
"We believe that the product you need is the YTX14-BS Enduroline Advanced. You can view this on our website if you CLICK HERE. Please ensure that you compare dimensions and terminal layout (where the positive terminal is) before ordering."
(this is the link https://www.tayna.co.uk/YTX14-BS-End...ery-P9117.html)
Fantastic service so far from them, and £35.95 plus £7.97 shipping all inclusive its a great price.
The comments for that battery include various Merc owners, one of which is an auxiliary battery replacement. So I think I'm going to order it.

Hi Mine is a 2014 and I believe mine is on the trunk as well , how were you able to tske the plastic cover off are there any screws around it. I was trying to take it off with brute force but seems like that s not the way.
Thanks
