Seat Pain

Just read a lengthy posting on the W212 forum about seat pain and adding more foam under the existing cushion above the springs. I'm experiencing the same sinking in discomfort and would like to do this with my '14 C207 multi contour ventilated seats which are also overly firm and need more rear center padding. I see how to remove these seats, removing the 4 bolts, but am leary about removing the wires attached to the seat frame bottom. Does anyone know the exact procedure for this seat removal and any cautions to be observed.

Good luck with that mate because I reckon you could run into a power of trouble if you are not careful.

Seats will have pre-tensioners and other airbags fitted. You need to disconnect the battery(s) for 30 minutes before disconnecting any of the electrical plugs connected to the seats.

Are you saying both the main front battery and the Aux start-stop batt in the trunk? What settings do I loose doing so. Does this in essence do a complete reset of the electronics. What are "pre tentioners".The coupe belt is attached to the floor.

Pre-tensioners are in the part the seatbelt connects into, if that is connected to the floor and you won't need to disconnect it to get the seat out then that is good, however you will still have airbags in the seats which have the same problem in that they have explosive cells which you do not want to trigger by accident. So the battery still needs to be disconnected. I personally would do both batteries unless you can be 100% that nothing is connected via the aux system. People swap those batteries out on a fairly regular basis, so there shouldn't be any issue with it. Main battery will mean that any learning / adaptions may be lost from the ECU and perhaps memory of things like seat locations.

You can't remove the seat safely without disconnecting the battery due to the airbags, so not really too much of an option there if you go down this route. Certainly not a risk I would take anyway.

I repeat, be very careful with this. It is not as easy as it looks
