Panoramic roof stuck open

Hi. My name's Robert and I have a little problem. I opened my panoramic roof in my 2011 E350 coupe the other day (never had a problem with it, used it many times) and now it won't close. I tried the resetting it with the switch. Nothing. Tried blowing out the rails with air. Nothing. Tried closing it manually with an allen wrench only to have the allen head strip out. Now, manually did start to close the sun visor when I would hit the switch the sun visor would open again, but not close. So that tells me the switch is working, the motor must be working and it's not a fuse. Thoughts? Rails possibly? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

C207 coupe -13
Hi Robert! My name is Iisakki and this is my first post in mbworld so hello for everyone else too! I have the same problem than you and I’ve been searching help so much for a couple of weeks without result. I have c207 coupe -13 and one day the panoramic roof just didn’t close. After that no response what so ever, only one little ”click” sound when I press the button but nothing happens. I’ve tried to resynch it, checked the fuse and reinstall it, lubricating the pano in MB service but nothing works. They say that the pano motor doesn’t respond to tester but the sunshade does what is kind of weird IMO. And that they think the whole motor should be changed (ofcourse) and as you know it’s pretty expensive. I can’t believe it’s the motor, I’m sure it’s something minor but where I live it’s VERY rare somebody has panoramic roof so even in MB dealer don’t know what to do.

Bump

The dealer said they want to replace the motor 1000€. I think it’s bull****, I’m very sure it’s something minor. Right away they told me they don’t know much about panoramic roofs, imagine MB dealer said that, what a joke.

Could be off track or something stuck in the rails. I had an older e class that was stuck and even my cls was kind of off track I just dealt with it and kept them closed. But they both gave me that sense that one day they would not close from the noise they made when opening them. I took it to a car upholster and they said they could fix it for around 400... it required removing the headliner on my old e class not sure what the cost would have been on the cls or on the new e coupe. But if the motor is making noise and opening the thing then that is probably not the issue but likely it is jammed or off track like both my previous mercedes's were. Maybe go somewhere besides the dealer first, I chose a car upholsterer because the one near me does a lot of this type of work.
