Donor cars?

Hey all,

I hate having an automatic, is there any donor car I could start looking for to get a manual transmission (and pedal group, console, etc) that would fit my car?
Or something easily modified to fit?

Mine has the 4.7 biturbo in it currently.

Many thanks!
Paul

No such thing. But a company in Tampa can bolt a manual transmission to the engine - they sell the pairs as well - search on ebay for Mercedes SL55 S55 E55 CL55 AMG Engine Motor 5.4L M113k Manual Gearbox 6 Speed. That's the easy part. To sort out electronics - either you know you can do it yourself, or be prepared to pay tens of thousands of dollars to someone to do it, most likely building custom controllers in places where Mercedes electronics do not want to mate and cooperate.

Or downgrade to one of the small/fuel efficient engines from the corresponding C-class (same platform), which had a manual transmission available, that would be the most cost effective way. No c207 conversion to manual makes any economic sense, unless someone wants to do it just for the fun of it with money being no issue
