E400 Cab , Ashtray
Almost embarrassed to ask... Today we received a 2016 E400 cab, CPO car. We live in a Dallas and bought it from Keyes in LA and had it transported to a Dallas MB dealer. So we did not see or drive the car prior to owning it. This is my wife’s car and upon driving home she sees an ashtray in the console and smells smoke in the cabin. She is very upset.
2 questions please.
This is a premium 3 pkg car. Is the ashtray standard or do you need to order it as an option?
Do dealers have a process to clear/clean smoke front the air vents and cabin?
thanks so much all.
By the way the car is white with blue top with blue leather, it’s gorgeous!

Ashtray is standard. Since you bought the car in LA, you have no way of knowing the smoke odor so the dealer did not bother to get rid of the smoke odor.

A good detail shop should be able to handle the odor for you.

I had the exact same thing happen to me and I also bought it in Southern Calif. When we test drove the car we of course put the top down so we didn't notice the smell. But after we drove it home to Arizona we noticed the smell after an overnight in the garage with the top and the windows up . The only thing that works, and I tried all of the other stuff that only masks the smell, but does not get rid of it, is an ozone machine. I purchased one from Amazon - Enerzen Commercial Ozone Generator 6,000mg Industrial O3 Air Purifier Deodorizer Sterilizer (6,000mg - Black) - for $70. It took about 15 hours of use to finally get rid of it. Running it 3 hours at a time, but it is still smoke odor free. Also take a look at this guys Youtube video as that is what got me to go the ozone machine route.
Good Luck and enjoy your ride, I know I do!

Thank you all, great info. Now deciding if ithe smell is from smoke or cleaning/detailing fluids used as part of presage process. LA MB Dealer says it definetly was not a smokers car. Said it would have been noted in the CPO inspection notes. We leave top down at night in garage, recleaned the interior, left an open bottle of vinegar in car, and smell is dissipating. Ozone foggier service likely will in next few weeks if still there. My wife absolutely loves the car.
