Gas Cap Check Engine
Folks,
Check Engine Light came on and when I checked the gas cap it may not have been on right. Does anyone know how much time the engine has to run or how many miles it takes for the check engine light to reset?
OR do I have to reset it myself?
Last, would anyone have had experience with knowing what the ODB code would be for something like a loose cap? I know they are hard to diagnose, but if someone had luck with fixing a cap after knowing the code and it reset itself that would be helpful.
Any feedback would be helpful.
Mike

Well I found out the code is P0128 which assumed to be that either the coolant thermostat or the engine coolant sensor is bad. Now trying to detect which it may be.
Its noted that the code states the engine is not at its normal temperature which could mean the thermostat is wide open all the time, or the sensor is just not reading the temp right.. In the meantime will try and get an infrared temp guage and read the temp and see if the scan can tell me the temp from the OBD. If OBD and infrared temp is the same, then I know its not the sensor and its the thermostat...
Anyone have any history with this code or what was actually done to fix it?
