Unhappy 2011 E550 Convertible Top will not close properly

I have a new problem that just happened. The very last part of the closing operation will not complete. this is where the top closes and attaches properly to the visor area, then the trunk lid deck closes, then the back window is supposed to close and lock into place. This last step is where there is an issue. The back window will not retract back so as to lock into place.
Is there a sensor for this last part that I might be able to check? The top retracts completely with no problem and it even closes and attaches to the visor area, its that final step of the back glass window that is not completing and retracting to the back rear deck! I hope I am describing this completely.

Top not closing

I had a similar problem with my 2011 Cab with the difference being it would stop closing at the front cowl (windshield). It would not latch at the cowl and of course the rear glass would also not latch onto the rear deck. I finally took it to an independent MB service shop and he diagnosed and fixed it. Here is what he diagnosed as the problem...

Labor Service - Convertible top inspection. Scanned and visual inspection. Found limit switch lever "flipped" over and not operating switch. This area has been tampered with before, as a couple of securing rivets were missing. Correct, clear fault data and test. Cost $135.00

Hope this helps you.

Unplug your battery overnight and see if it will reset your limit switches. Then try operating top in the morning with battery reconnected.

Just ran into exactly the same problem. Dealer diagnosed and replaced rear fuse box and it’s fixed, about $1000.
