2011 Mercedes E550 Cabriolet Sport-- convertible top issue!
Hey all!
New to the forums and I believe this is the right spot for this thread. Need a little help from you friendly gents over here if you will. My convertible top goes down when I press the lever up, goes all the way back closes all good. But when I press to go back up, nothing happens! But if I leave the car alone for a couple hours then turn it on, the top will come back up and into place! Idk what's going on computer issue? Fluid level is fine, motor I know works as the top does go up and down sometimes. Do I really need to pay the dealer $170/hr to diagnosis this issue? It has to be electrical issue or coding right? Any direction would be awesome guys thanks!

What button on the key fob? There's only lock, unlock and trunk and I'll have to either buy one or get to a shop for that OBD2 unfortunately. I'm thinking it's a fuse or relay because my steering wheel doesn't move down or up either anymore so maybe some fuses are going bad by now idk

A long hold on the unlock button on your key fob will lower the windows and raise the top. And a long hold on your lock button will do the reverse. Both require you to hold the button until the raising or lowering is complete.

You have to point the fob directly at the sensor in the drivers door handle from a very short distance away. It's a really bad system and next to useless really on the earlier models. Smartop modules actually make remote hood use actually usable, so once you get your issue sorted, worth looking at those.

Yes it worked guys! Had to stand like 2 feet away and point it at the door handle but yes! No problems what so ever. It's really funny I'm glad I came on this website Haha had the car for like 6 years and never knew you could raise and lower with the keys 🤣 thanks guys but so you're thinking a defective inside switch then?

Check all the fuses first, not sure which one the interior switch is wired to. Had similar working conditions with my top but got it working after cleaning the switch and working the top multiple times via key and switch.
