E350 Cabriolet needs to replace engine mounts and more?

Our 2012 has just 40K miles (was just in for the regular maintenance) and the dealer came up with a $4000 list of things to also fix on the car which was kind of shocking to us -

Engine mount flat recommend replacement - $1950
Trans mount flat need replacement - $400
Rear drive shaft flex disc cracking recommend replacement - $1550

Are these common issues?
Is this just planned obsolescence - poor design - or simply age related? With the low miles we wouldn't expect all these kinds of issues. The car was garaged in Florida just up until this year when we moved to CA. (trailer move for the car)
We're going to get a second opinion in the event the dealer is being overzealous, but input is appreciated - especially any other experience with all these issues.

you need to go to an independent shop. Given the age of the car it’s not really unusual but the prices are astronomical! I had the engine mounts and transmission mounts replaced for around $850 (if you have 4matic the costs will be significantly higher!) Last time I had a flex disc replaced in my E 350 sedan it was around $750.

There is NO reason to take your car to the dealer after the warranty expires. They’re usually good but the prices are usually 2 to 3 times what an Indy will charge you!

Yes - The first indy shop I checked quoted $1700 for the whole list - so less than 1/2.... that's a good start. Chances are 1/2 the things the dealer is pushing don't even need to be done immediately as well.

Those are all standard items that wear out and need to be replaced in most MBs.

Are you noticing increased vibration through the steering wheel at idle and during acceleration? If so the mounts are worn out.

Just a follow up - we took it in to the independent shop and they inspected only to report these things weren't in need of any replacing at this time. This was simply a case of the dealer being way overzealous and fishing for business (greed). Yes, it was noted they will need replacing at some point down the road - but that point is not right now.
