Driver knee airbag cover fix?

Does anyone know how to repair the driver knee airbag cover so that it sits even and flush as it did before the knee airbag deployed? Top pic shows how it should be. Is it even possible?

Wait a minute. You want to hide the fact that the airbag has deployed? That doesn't sound kosher to me... (pun intended).

Hey Genius. Short of replacing the entire dashboard the flap has to be addressed even after installing the replacement airbag. Looks like you were in the bathroom during the ethics briefing. Fortunately, I'm not one of your Anglo-Khazarian counterparts, occupying invaded turf. You are all of the same stock whether you feign indifference or not (check the mirror). So your "pun" can stay stuffed in the nether regions where it came from. Happy Trolling

Thanks for the PDF. However, short of replacing the entire dashboard the flap has to be addressed even after installing the replacement airbag.

There is no way out of it, you have to replace the dash, they are made this way for a reason, so people will not cover up the fact that it has been deployed.
have replaced many dashes for this reason and its not as hard as it looks, little time consuming but not hard if you have the right info, not to familiar with the e class but i doubt its any different to the W204 W205 C class that I have done and you can pretty much just remove the dash skin so to speak without pulling the whole assembly out.
It involves removing steering wheel, radio, glovebox, console, cluster, dash ends, and removing all the screws that hold the dash cover in place, here is a pic of the last W204 dash I replaced.

Apart from your humorless and offensive reply, did you realise that your original question is completely ambiguous in respect of what could be achieved by it?
If manufacturers would make it so that it can be simply invisibly repaired, it would incentivise such practice of hiding airbag deployment.
Best of luck with your repair.

Well, and there you have it.
Also, if one would try to make a full repair (whether visible or invisible), this could influence the otherwise controlled deployment of the airbag, so not recommended.
Still, best of luck and I hope you can find a decent replacement part.

Makes an utterly useless, ethnically and ethically retarded remark...then speaks about "a humorless and offensive reply".....LOL...Ok. In this day and age Ignorance is a choice not an excuse. Clearly the only one who will need "good luck" here is you.

Also just to let you know, you will also need the airbag module reset, its a lot easier to remove the module with the dash out as it sits under the radio bolted to the centre hump, you can send it off and have it re-flashed, as you cant clear the airbag light unless it has been done and the deployed components replaced

Yes I would not recommend playing Russian roulette with anything safety related, just not worth the risk just to save some time or money, you just cant scrimp on safety, be it yours or the next owners

Thanks. Yes, I did remove the deployed airbag. I was able to address the srs light with some "tweaking" and an Autel Maxicom. I'm actually considering holding the flap in place with some heavy duty velcro affixed to the inside. Firm enough to hold the flap securely in place but light enough to allow the airbag to deploy as intended. I'll probably work with that until I can find an entire dashboard with the flap intact and get around to taking things apart to install it. Though I have no intention of selling the car...anytime soon, I certainly would not sell it with that airbag missing...unless the buyer was aware and ok with that.

Update. Good news. I was advised by a friend who has the same car that it can in fact be done. It seems that people who work on and repair automotive leather/vinyl upholstery are best suited to the task. Here is a pic of such a repair job in progress. Sorry to disappoint the token pessimists...

Wasn't trolling, just commenting on the rough repair that you posted, but I can see by your response that you are not a tolerant person of criticism.
From experience with multiple airbags over multiple years, I can tell you the only way is the right way, but you go for it champ, im sure you are the smarter one, I hope you dont have to rely on its deployment.

And by the way, it is illegal to repair a inflation device or its components, and its illegal to drive a vehicle with known deployed airbags

Enjoy your tight *** repair on your write off E class

I’ll probably get more insults for this. You listed no context originally. No one had an idea what you were trying to do.

This is not context??? If he didn't understand he should have simply asked rather than make accusations. You don't have to feign cluless if you just want to pick up the dudes trolling torch.

again, you made no mention of replacing the airbag. Also generally airbags are replaced by body shops, who would of course fixed that tab also. That’s why it sounded shaky.
