I am getting back into MB ownership. Don't have one yet. Joining this forum to help my decision.
Direct injection problems?
Hello everyone,
I have heard from quite a few sources that direct injection engines have problems with carbon build up much more than non direct injection engines.
Is this true, from your experience?
I'm trying to determine if I should stay away from the M276 direct injection 3.5 V6 versus the M272 V6.

I had a 276 direct injection in my 2012 E350 sedan that I put 150,000 miles on and I never had a problem. I did the maintenance by the book (new spark plugs every 60k, etc) and never had an issue. I know that there are people who say that they knew someone that had a problem but I’ve never heard of anyone that had a problem 1st hand.
I WILL say that when I had my 1988 BMW 750iL that I had to have the walnut blasting thing done twice in two years due to valve carbonization and it was NOT a DI engine.
