Hi there my 2012 e350 has 83K kms. My engine has this strange sound and I'm wondering what it could be or if anyone has experienced this issue/sound?
My mechanic was fixing a oil leak and he said it is an injector or high pressure fuel pump and that injectors are about 700 a piece in ontario canada.
should i just drive the car as the oil leak i had to replace my valve body in transmission.
Sounds like its from the passenger side on the engine

I just bought the car from used car sales at a Mercedes dealership in barrie ontario.

hey i had my car fully scanned and there is no fault codes at all. only issue is a rear and front parking sensor but im not concerned about those.
I have no idea why my car ticks intermittently as in the video it seems im the only person with this issue
I understand DI makes a sound but this is a separate tick and it doesnt sound like lifters either.

it only has 83000 kms on engine so hard to believe there would be engine damage
my mechanic listened again and said for sure it’s injector or high pressure fuel pump and to just ignore it as replacing can just lead to same sound
might just have to live with the sound
when the US border becomes more open I will drive down and buy some parts as the injectors are way to overpriced in Canada lol
I have yet to find anyone on the internet with the same exact sound tho so it’s frustrating

That sounds very reasonable. If there is no valve problem then it's probably an injector. Which one though???? If you have an Autel Scanner like the MP808 you can do an injector test specifically. You can get Good used fuel injectors (2780700687) on Ebay for about $80 to $150 USD.
I might bring back in to get injector test done im just hoping it is not a valve my mechanic said not to worry so much but its hard

Really?..Wow!!..LOL. I think we all assumed you would've checked the spark plug first...through the process of elimination. That's also the easiest step. Glad you got it sorted out though.
