Question Soft Top Car Wash?

Hey there!

I have a 2011 e550 convertible. I was just wondering if I can take the soft top through a normal automatic car wash with the wax and polish and all, or will that not be good for the soft top?

Thanks!

I'm not sure if it will "hurt" it, but it can't be good for it. Pay an extra $10 and get it hand washed. My Jeep has a premium top with the same cloth as my Mercedes, and I've never taken it through a car wash in 8 years.

Morning,

I take my 2013 E350 Cabriolet to touchless wash (Chevron has good ones) but don't select the top-tier wash which includes high-pressure wash. The basic and the middle tier have worked beautifully.

Good luck.

I have the 2016 E-cab and run it through the car wash sparingly. Only the higher end washes if I can't get hand washing done. I protect my top with Chemical Guys protectant and generally take care of it and so far there haven't been problems there. My biggest problem with the convertible is that the car wash can't seem to get the suds rinsed out of the trunk properly. If you run it through, pull out of the wash and look at your back bumper immediately, and pop the trunk. You'll figure out which car washes get the rinse done right and which don't. I still highly recommend hand washing whenever possible. Polishing out the micro-scratches is a pain.
