By the time my car was built, they had eliminated the wood rear console cup holder cover and replaced it with a very cheap looking plastic cover. I found a used burr walnut one from an e550 on eBay and it matches the front console trim in my car perfectly. Swapping them out was very easy; to the best of my recollection, the process went something like this:
- Open the existing sliding cup holder cover.
- Remove the round rubber pads in the bottom and then remove the screws found below them.
- Pop the rear seat bottom up (the whole thing is one piece) and pull it forward to remove it from the car.
- From the underside of the console, you can easily disassemble the cup holder section and slide the rolling cover out.
- Installation is the reverse of removal.
Once I got the seat out, the rest of it was all very intuitive.
