I have a 2012 Coupe and lately, when I drive over uneven payment such as backing out of my driveway which is raised over the road, I hear a "single" cracking sound (almost metal-on-metal like) coming from the rear, backseat corner (left or right depending on the unevenness) of the car. Has anyone else experienced this? BTW, I also have a 2012 Cabrio which does not exhibit this. So, is it possibly roof to chassis related?

Common with the pano roof.

Unfortunately it’s normal sound in my coupe. Seems like panoroof’s railing system has some tension somewhere and makes a sound when the uneven road or a bump microshifts the tempered glass of the panoroof and “rubs” against the rails or the rails “rub” the coupe’s sheet metal. I’m really not sure where it is coming from, good news is the roof does open and closes properly, given the age of the vehicle it could happen one day that it doesn’t.

I’ve had a sedan as well as now having a coupe. They both had this sound when going over an uneven surface diagonally. I’ve asked the dealer & my indie shop about it & both day it’s normal due to how the pano roof is installed
