2016 E400 cabin and dust filter replacement
I am going to do some items on the B maintenance. it calls for a dust filter and carbon filter replacement. I can do the cabin filter very easily with the videos, pics and help I found here and on You tube. The dust filter on the other hand is a different story.
I removed the cover over the battery and there was no filter there at all. Should there have been one?
Also, if anyone has a pic of the actual E400 dust filter location it would be appreciated. I am assuming that some conifigurations change wih the twin turbo setup.
Also, similar to this are actual part numbers (aftermarket is fine) - I don't think I can do the generic "fits all G,C,E etc" filter purchase. Or I will just pull out the cabin air filter to use it as a guide for on line ordering.

My 2016 has no filter in the removable air duct over the batt. Ive seen another design that does, but not mine. It seems to me there never was one, nor a need for one, but I suppose its possible. Mine was dealer maintained so Id also assume it would have one if its supposed to. From memory I dont recall a spot for a filter to fit either. Just be sure you put the duct back in correctly because it can go in wrong and look fine. Just eyeball it, how it hooks on the bottom, and itll make sense.

I bought a MANN filter, which is probably what the oem filter is. I think MB buys MANN for most everything, puts the MB name & part # on it and doubles the price.
Many of these places will sort by your vehicle so you get the right one, but be sure to check in more than one place because they are often wrong. Eg most places give the wrong oil filter for my car, so you just have to know, sometimes by trial and error.
I usually buy from Amazon or RockAuto but not everyone has everything, or at the best price, so here's my usual go to list of suppliers:
