Hello everyone! I have a 2012 E550 convertible with the Appearance package that includes the cross drilled rotors. I was all excited today as I thought I'd be replacing my front brake pads and rotors but there's something hella weird about these damn calipers. When I went to remove the bolts securing the calipers, I could NOT put anything on there. I kept on trying any allen socket that seemed to be the pattern on the bolts but the 7mm should be the right size but it's a tiiinnyy bit too large, the 6mm is far too small. No matter how far and wide I searched online and on here, none of the calipers seem to match mine and none have that weird *** bolt. Has anyone swapped these before? Is there a DIY guide specific for this? Am I missing something/doing something wrong?!
Any help is VERY appreciated as this alone stopped me from being able to do this
Looks like it would be a HEX 7mm tool But 7 is BARELY big enough and 6mm is far too tiny
my question is why would they design it that way?
you strip that puppy out and then what?
everyone else in world (except some other euro cars Some Volvos) uses hex or E type bolt of somesort so if it gets the head stripped you still have a chance of removal.
they cover with rubber cap but if it driven in salted snow roads and that puppy rusts up - Forget it. I would sell car
