Can't get radio out

Hi, I'm trying to install one of those android screens and I've stumbled upon a problem, so I was hoping someone could give me a bit of guidance here. I have an E550 Cabriolet (2015).

I removed the navigation screen and the center air vents (with the clock), but when trying to remove the actual radio, I can't get the screws out. It's a pair of T20 Torx screws at a funny angle. I can screw them, but they are not coming out. Either the right or left one. I thought at some point the threads may have eroded or something, but I just don't think that would happen to both screws. Any tips on how to screw them out, so I can take the radio out? Anyone had similar difficulties taking the radio out?

Thank you!

I replaced my screen last week and first tip is do not take these screws out all the way of the metal locking bar will drop down into the plastic housing and is a bugger to get back into place when you go to finally refit the head unit.

Give them a few turns to loosen off then give the headunit a pull to see if it moves any and in doing so the screw heads should be in a better position to get past the plastic lug overhead then give them another few turns and you should be able to get the unit all the way out....again don't remove the screws totally.

It's a nightmare of a job refitting the headunit when you've fitting the new wiring loom as there really isn't enough room in the space behind to tuck it all out the way so be prepared for a lot of frustration, this part is what took the most time and make sure you move the optical cable from the original wiring connector loom to the new one

Good luck

Hey there, thank you so much for your reply!! I'm afraid I literally am having exactly the 2 issues you mentioned: I took the screws out and I have no idea how to get them back in, and no matter how hard I try to fit the radio back in, it just won't go all the way.

Do you have any suggestions on how to solve these 2 issues?

1. What parts fell off if I was able to completely remove the screws holding the comand unit in place? How would you go about finding them?
2. How on earth do people fit the comand unit back inside? I hid most cables and I still can't fit it in. What was blocking yours?

Thanks SO MUCH!
