Can't say I've ever noticed it but since it looks like it's inline with the mirrors pivot point I'd say the nut/bolt for said pivot is under there. I suppose I'd pop it off and take a look if I were curious enough.

Thanks for your replies. Yes the puddle lights on the doors are changed to LED. I had a look under the wing mirror and it’s just got a wire going through it, assuming it’s for the electric mirror. I’m sure I’m the Saloon version there’s lights shining down from the mirror. Thanks again.
