I bought an aftermarket radiator grille for my 2010 E250 coupe and am trying to remove the old one. I got so far, and am now stuck trying to remove the grille itself. The top of the grille is loose but it seems to be held in place along the lower section of the grille. I have tried to release the clips but no luck. I have seen a couple of You Tube videos but nothing that actually shows or tells me how to release the clips. I searched this forum but may have missed a thread.
1. First remove the top center grille support (remove the screw).
1a - If you have distronic unplug the cable.
2. Pull the center grille forward from both sides or use a rubber mallet to gently tap.evenly on each side and the bottom.
3. Be careful the tabs at the top of the grille (see picture) are really easy to break.*
4. The grille is held in place with these two side tabs and several tabs along the bottom (which have less tendency to break).
5. It should then just pull straight out.
* if you do break any of the tabs you can fix it using abs pipe cement or plastic weld (melt) them. Front center grille support
