I have a code for the secondary air injection system
Hello, i have been having an issue for a while where my car has these intermittent misfire sort of feelings at idle. I had suspected a vacuum leak but was not sure where and even had the car smoke tested to no avail. Today I think i got my first clue (or possibly the entire issue) when the check engine light came on and I scanned it I was given the code P0410 which is a fault in the secondary air injection system. I was looking into what parts are effected here and it seems there are a lot of components that can go wrong. Has anyone experienced similar issue or know what I should look at? I was considering changing the air pump but I am not sure that it is bad as it doesn't make the loud helicopter sort of noise that most people complain of. Instead I do notice a sort of metallic whistling noise at startup. The two check valves for each bank are also not too cheap either so I wanted to know if there was a way to check this out before throwing parts. Lastly when I looked further into the code it shows that on both bank 1 and 2 that the airflow is too low... I am wondering if this indicates that the issue is the pump itself... since It is not likely for both sides to go out at the same time.
