Hi, my 2014 E550 cabriolet has had V8 Biturbo badges on its fenders since I purchased the car used, and one character of them fell off today. I searched parts catalog but it said not compatible with my car. After scratching my head and investigating, I found the reason why.
The V8 Biturbo badges didn't come with E550 from the factory in spite of the fact that it is indeed with M278 engine which is biturbo. It seems like the previous owner did badge engineering.
1. Can you confirm that V8 Biturbo badges are not in E550? If so, I'd like to remove them completely as I don't like badge engineering.
2. Anyone knows why Mercedes didn't put the V8 Biturbo badges on E550?
I have a 2012 E550 and, in that year, the front fenders were adorned with “Blue Efficiency” badges. I alway found this ironic on a 402hp vehicle with a TTV8 engine,
There is no V8 badge on an E550. Doesn’t need it. It’s a classic and doesn’t advertise what’s under the hood.
I do like AMG so added this emblem and replaced the original BluEfficiency badge which was Mercedes original way of saying more efficient engine then natural aspirated but didn’t go over well at all. Since there is an AMG Sport Package it works well as a replacement.
