[Oil] What's the oil level height for the V8 on the dipstick?
Is there a bulletin post on oil changes?
Specifically the oil level height, on my E55 it didn't come with a dip stick so I found this information on the server.
Where can I get this type of stuff from? Anybody have access to WIS for the newer models? Where did you get it?
And here, which is a link to my car, but yours should be in there somewhere: https://www.automobile-catalog.com/c...html#gsc.tab=0
And this guy: https://www.lastvin.com/
And last but not least, is the attached pdf.
My '13 E350 and '16 E550 dipstick levels vary depending on when you check it. It doesn't vary much, usually, but somewhere there is a procedure, maybe in the attachment, links, or owners manual? Something like waiting xx minutes after it was fully warmed up before reading. I think it was 30min? The level does vary over time, and I'm pretty sure it's the oil slowly draining out of the oil filter so I assume the wait time is the drain time.
I'm also posting to mention a mystery issue, which I'd like you to try, if interested. When the eng sits for a while, like overnight, I pull the dipstick and there is no oil on it excluding the very thin film of once having oil on it. I reinsert it, pull, and oil level is normal. It usually doesn't do that, but it does happen and I have no clue how it's possible. A couple others have reported the same thing, plus I did it with a friend watching to prove, to myself, that I'm not crazy.
I changed my oil yesterday, put in 9 qts and it read a little high when I checked maybe two minutes after running it. Today, a good 24 hours without running, I pulled the stick and it only had a thin coat of oil. Reinsert, pull, and the entire red plastic part was completely thick and dripping with oil like I had dipped it honey. Gremlins is my only logical explanation. I'm sure there's a better reason but I'm at a loss.
I had a '99 CLK 320 that didn't have a dipstick, but it had the dipstick tube. You can buy the dipstick, so I did, and problem solved. Not sure about your E55. Maybe crankcase psi was blowing them out, so rather than fix it they just removed it?
