Service advice.
I've been enjoying my 2013 e350 coupe quite well over my nearly 3 years of ownership....and nearly 10K miles (car had 60K on the clock when I purchased, I don't drive much. By far it has been the most reliable car that I've ever owned. This morning had the oil changed for the 3rd time (I like to over service...) and the mechanic noted 3 issues.
a slight leak in an upper manifold gasket, seeping onto the starter. The repair is about $2K. Mechanic feels that the drive belt (or belts) don't need replaced at this time. Should I replace the belts anyhow?
and a drag link bushing that has a slight crack..I don't remember the cost. Mechanic said no alignment will be needed. Thoughts?
lastly, Is $2K too much to replace the rear speaker deck? It's cooked.
Regards,
Mark
I've been reading that my rattling rear sub-woofer could possibly be repaired using a simple bottle of Elmers glue! Anyone ever tried removing the rear deck to of this to do speaker repair? Is there an airbag in there? Would i need to mess with the rear rolling sunscreen? Could I chip a tooth?
Excited and nervous...
I might attempt my first repair.
I took a couple of deep puffs last evening and figured out my plan for above.
Yes to replacing the belts while fixing oil leak issue, no to the alignment after the suspension part is installed...and after viewing a video on removing the rear deck to replace ( or re glue) the rear speakers, I will not attempt that level of surgery myself. $2k is just too steep for repairing a feature that I seldom use. So no sound system in my chariot. No.
Motor on,
Mark
