I'm in Florida. My dealer got 2 in this day. Big,big fun, special the U78 AMG Performance Exhaust System. Now my wife hears me coming home. I drove a lot of cars, but this one with all the optional equipment its a amazing car - until they release a 63s model ;-)

I have a E53 Coupe ordered in the Orlando market, what part of Florida are you in?

What a gorgeous car - huge congrats on the purchase!
Didn't realise it was possible to get a performance exhaust on the E53, at least in the UK it's not currently available.

My reasoning was;
1. The performance exhaust doesn't appear to add any performance, only noise, cost, and complexity.
2. My build philosophy was stealth. Think Q-ship. I prefer not to disturb any sleeping police officers.

Hahaha... Understood your point. But the sound - for me - is the most exciting part. Specifically when the top is closed. Priceless this feeling.

Yes. The AMG performance exhaust is available in the U.S. market. I actually deleted it from my initial configuratio.

When I placed the order for my car back in September, I wanted the heads-up display but was told that it was no longer available as an option for my model.... it's crazy!

I know and love that sound. I have owned a 69 440 Charger and a 63 Corvette with a 454 in it. They both made glorious noises when down shifted.
However, I spent a lot of time at the track in my 20s. I eventually noticed that the really fast drivers were smooth, quiet, and in control. They attracted little attention until you saw their lap times.
I have little talent. A few trophies. But for the last forty years, I have tried to be smooth, quiet, and in control. Ocasionally, I get a few moments of fast.
Jackie Stewart was once asked about where to apex a corner. His response was "I would much rather go in slow and come out fast than to go in fast and come out dead."

Mercedes is rumored to put some exhaust sound in through the speakers. Maybe it's adjustable.

That was pretty much my thinking when I used to ride a motorbike.
