E400 Coupe
Question Replacing the Front Camera after sand storm

Hi everyone,

I have E400 Coupe equipped with 360 view cameras. Unfortunately, the front camera got severe damages from a heavy sandstorm. I took it to the local dealer and they said the whole camera needs to be replaced. The camera is working but of course, I can't see anything (blurry). My question is: The camera lens facing the outside, isn't protected by a cover? I mean is the glass that is actually exposed to the outside weather is the camera itself, not a glass/plastic cover protecting it?

Checking the OEM Parts websites I found something called Camera Cover cost only < $12:

While the actual camera cost more than $680 (with my local dealer it is $1100 !):

is this only a shield cover with no protection to the camera lens?

Got it, so I will have to replace the entire camera.

Thanks

I think the camera has a plastic cover on the top. Not sure if it's real glass. Try to polish it, like thy do with old milky front lights.
