You need to buy a third-party gadget that reprograms that annoying function. Search this forum and you'll find several discussions of the on/off annoyance, including a link to sellers on eBay. The thing coasts about $130, is simple to install, and works like a charm.

And there is nothing you can do with keeping it in sports mode after restart.

I thought there was a button for this under the engine on/off button and on the center console. But what do I know, I don't even pick my car up until Friday. But that's what I read and I'm sure you guys already know all that and are talking about something else.

There is a button on the center console, but the problem is that this "feature" reactivates every time the car comes to a stop, such as at an intersection, the motor shuts off, and you have to press the damn button again to deactivate it (to be clear, the engine starts up again when you step on the gas). Very annoying! The plug-in gadget you can find on eBay fixes it — when you turn off ECO Start-Stop, it stays off (and you can turn it back on if you want by just pressing the button on the console and it will stay active until you press the button again).

This and that.
Within a couple of weeks of use of my car it's already become a habit of mine to deactivate auto start/stop and put the car in sport mode as soon as I start up the car. It takes less than 2 seconds - no gadget needed. Hehe.

Yeah, but you have to keep pressing the button to avoid having the engine shut off every time the car stops for more than an instant, and that's what many of us find to be annoying. The app eliminates that — once you turn off the ECO start/stop function, it STAYS off until you press the button to turn it on again — even when you shut off the car entirely and start it up again the next day. BIG diff!
